Barcelona (W. Kordes’ Söhne 1932): Die Eltern sind Templar x Sensation und Lord Charlemont. Sie ist eine starkwüchsige Rose, die auf langen steifen Stielen ihre großen Blüten aufrecht trägt. Die Knospe ist schön geformt und öffnet sich im schlechtesten Wetter gut. Die Farbe ist ein sehr dunkles Rot, das oftmals von so schwarzen Schatten überlagert wird, daß es den Ton der bekannten dunklen Rose Chateau de Clos Vougeot erreicht. Anpflanzungen in warmen, trockenen Gegenden haben gezeigt, daß trotz diese schwarzen Farbe die Blüten auch im heißem Sonnenschein nicht verbrennen, sondern sich gut halten und entwickeln. Der Duft ist stark. Für Liebhaber ganz dunkler Rosen wird diese Sorte begehrenswert sein.

Barcelona (W. Kordes' Söhne 1932): The parents are Templar x Sensation and Lord Charlemont. It is a strong-growing rose that bears its large flowers upright on long, stiff stems. The bud is beautifully formed and opens well in the worst weather. The colour is a very dark red, which is often overlaid by shades so black that it attains the tone of the well-known dark rose Chateau de Clos Vougeot. Plantings in warm, dry regions have shown that, despite this black colour, the flowers do not burn even in hot sunshine, but rather hold and develop well. The scent is strong. This variety will be desirable for lovers of really dark roses.

The climbers Crimson Rambler and Parkfeuer bloomed on my garden gate. Crimson has now died after the hard winter, she can however not have frozen, as Parkfeuer has stayed healthy....Parkfeuer belongs to these which also endure the most difficult winters in their scaffolding above ground...
