Today I am happy, becouse every day there is germinating a new seedling here. Almost all of them are seeded in 2016. So I had to be patience. [(spinosissima Andrewsii x Mon Amie Claire) x Self Pollination ] , [(Single Cherry x Hansa) x Self Pollination] and [(Yellow Romantica x Single Cherry) x Self Pollination]. Why all this Self Pollinations? I want the characteristics, but now they are not at the same plant. I hope the characteristics will come together. The reflowering ones do not set hips here and the ones that set easy hips do not reflower. Maybe they will never come together, but it is nice to try. The Mon Amie Claire bloodline got reflowering from Autumn Damasks, the Hansa bloodline from rugosa and the Yellow Romantica bloodline from teehybrids. I want to come to reflowering spinosissma with the characteristics of the wild 'Dunerose' growing at the Dutch Coast. The Rose I used 'Andrewsii x Mon Amie Claire' is a Rose bred by Knud Pedersen (Denmark) and the Rose 'Single Cherry x Hansa' is a Rose bred by Roland Hermanson (Sweden). The 'Yellow Romantica x Single Cherry' is one of my own crossings.

Yesterday seedling 1008Étoile004 opened the bloom. There is a strong fragrance I never met on a Rose with so little number of petals. The bloom has 4 petals. I am wondering if there are more petals in future blooms of this plant. Today the bloom opened completely and looks like a Cyclamen.

Today I got pollen from an indoor Rose to use on Pteracantha in the garden. But Pteracantha is not yet flowering. I did freeze the pollen. Maybe about one or two weeks Pteracantha is flowering, becouse I can see the buds already.

This spring I got two Pteracantha seedlings, but the first one died. If Pteracantha does not accept other pollens, I will use one of the seedlings to see what pollen they will accept.

My 1008Étoile004 shows the first color.

Today there is a flower-bud at 1008Étoile004. 3 seedlings did germinate after 1 winter and 4 after 2 winters, under which 2 died early this spring becouse of mycosis. They are all seedlings from Étoile de Hollande Climbing x Open Pollination. One of the seedlings that germ after 1 winter, died last winter outside in the garden becouse of the frost. The other 2 survived outside whithout damage. I did set them on Schmidts Ideal under-carriage in februari 2010 to see how they grow further. Becouse there is only 1 seedling that did make a flower-bud in the first year I am curious to see of the others that did not flower the first year in the futere will develop to climbing Roses?
