I was looking on Vintage Gardens about this rose it doesn't say anything about it being a climber? I guess it could be a climber if allowed to.. Right? If I get one I don't want it to climb...

Doesn't have to climb. Mine has been free standing for over 10 years. You will have to shorten up some of the longer canes to grow it as a Shrub.

It is said that this rosebush does repeat flowering. Mine did never do that. Does anyone know anything about this rose?

I read about it by Schultheis, Stange, Schmid und Kalbus. It is assumed that Typ Kassel may be a variety of Perpetual Lee (or Perpetual's Lee or Perpetual Lees) known as the only remontant centifolia. But I didn't find anything about this Perpetual Lee even by Roses Loubert.

Do you mean occasional rebloom? Yes, sometimes non remontant roses could scatter rebloom, but not regularly. It depends on weather conditions. But despite this fact it can not be defined as remontance.
I bought one of Schultheis, let's see what happens )))

Hello, Lyn! Unfortunately I haven't any official information. All the informations I have come from nurseries that sell this rose. As far as I realized this rose was found in Germany near the city of Kassel. Most sources agree this rose is a centifolia and refer to it as to a unique remontant centifolia. But the Belgian Daniel Schmitz mentions this rose as non remontant. http://www.danielschmitz-roses.com/rosiers-du-temps-passe/centifolia-typ-kassel Perhaps he has not the real Typ Kassel, but another centifolia. Our member Pascale Hiemann wrote above that his Typ Kassel don't rebloom. But maybe he has not the real one too.
My one more version is that Typ Kassel itself could have some varieties, sports or mutations during further reproduction that are more, less or non remontant. Or maybe they could reverse to the true non remontant centifolia. I would try to find it out and any official sources too.
I was interesting to try this variety in Russia it's because I got one plant from Rosen Schultheis to test it.
