Do you have more information on this nursery? The premises seem to small to support the range on their website.

No, I was just looking for any nursery that stocked Wagner/Roman roses. This one claims to stock some. I didn't look at the size of the premises, but it's possible they use someone else as a supplier, or that they have stock plants on another premises.

Did a bit more digging, and have found out something interesting. This nursery, and the other nursery (jardina) that claims to stock some Wagner roses, both share the same parent (presumably) company name: GREEN-E CONCEPT SRL

They also share the same address in Sannicolau Roman, although jardina does not give the Bucharest office address for GREEN-E.

Also, prices are given in lei for jardina but in euros for famousroses. The prices are a pretty close match for the current conversion rate. My impression is that the latter is their international orders front, while jardina appears to only deal with deliveries inside Romania.

Anyway, short version is they are the same company, and claim to have some Wagner roses. For what that is worth. :)

Looks interesting. Anything with good scent and not much in the way of thorns can't be all bad. :)

A few points...

1/ The latest photo, posted by Raluca (/rose/l.php?l=21.427407) seems to give the release year as 1999. I assume the Bucharest Botanical Garden has that correct (would be easy to check with them).

2/ Also, the correct spelling is shown in that photo: 'Doamna în mov'.

The în would be obvious to anyone who knows any Romanian at all, but the (now defunct) source link used a basic ''i'' instead because Romanians often get a bit lazy with online orthography. They know the correct spelling anyway, and sometimes can't be bothered using Romanian's special characters.

3/ The name actually translates as ''THE lady in purple', not 'Lady in purple'.

'Lady in purple' would be 'Doamnă în mov', because an ''ă'' at the end of ''doamnă'' denotes the indefinite article (nearticulat, in Romanian) while an ''a'' at the end denotes the definite article (articulat).

Hence, 'Doamna în mov' means 'The lady in purple'. :)

------------------------------------------------------------------------

Incidentally, I suspect (but do not know for sure) that this rose was named after the 1966 book of the same name, by Theodor Constantin.

You can link directly to the heading for each cultivar on that page. The h2 elements have been given unique id's for each rose.

(I deliberately broke the url with spaces because HMF seems to throw a tantrum if I just post the actual url. Another bug for the devs.)

The description translates to English as...

Medium vigorous bushes, 70/40 cm with erect branches, very few thorns, dark green, semi-glossy, slightly hairy leaves. Medium-large, coiled (28 petals), elegantly shaped flowers occur solitary or grouped 3-5. Petals deep purple. Strong fragrance. Susceptible to frost and black spot but resistant to mildew and rust. For mass planting.

I have found two nurseries that sell this rose, but neither nursery is listed on HMF at the moment.
