I am in 6a and just received my Scepter Isle. I am undecided as to where to plant her. Can you please tell me if yours is thriving and in what sunlight conditions? Thank you, Colleen

Ellen, I am in Marblehead, Ma and just bought 3 Allegras from Rogue Valley Roses. I saw your 2016 photo. How is your Allegra doing today? Has she survived 5-6 years on New England weather? Does she grow to 4-6’ tall? I would love to know s suckers are an issue? Thank you, Colleen

Colleen,
I am sorry to say that I have planted and killed so many own-root roses in the last fifteen years that I am not a reliable source of information on any rose. I don't think Allegra is still around (there is a pink rose in the front bed whose identity I don't remember), but that is probably because I planted it in a hostile location, failed to water it during a drought, or didn't support it with pesticides during an insect invasion. Best of luck with your plants though!

ACTUALLY, I just went out and checked--Allegra is the pink rose whose name I always forget. It has done well in spite of me-- which is a real testament to its hardiness! Currently about six and a half feet, no suckers, good resistance to black spot which is endemic in that bed. It's up against the house facing east, so gets morning sun and some shelter. I can recommend it enthusiastically, for what my poor recommendation is worth.

Ellen, Thank you so much for getting back to me! I am pleased to read Allegra is such a survivor! The hardier and tougher the better. I really like to read from you that morning sun is sufficient too. I am dreaming about those pink blooms. Thanks again! Colleen

Good morning, Can you please tell me more about your Marianne? 12’ feet tall is a bit scary! Is she in full sun? What is her shape/form? Thank you! Colleen (zone 6)
