The variety is covered by US Plant Patent 34553. The patent uses the variety name 'Vanilla Vixen.' However, the name was changed before the rose was introduced . 'Vanilla Vixen' was never used in commerce. The variety just received an American Garden Rose Selection (AGRS) for the north central, northwest, and southwest regions.

Corrected parentage. Regarding breeder, early reference attributes it to Delbard-Chabert. In patents it is often the owner of the company who is mentioned as the inventor, not the actual breeder. In this patent it is stated that Georges Delbard "propagated" the rose. See also many patents of Kordes, Meilland, Tantau for similar "inventors" who were not the breeder.

Tom Carruth lived on Altadena Drive in Altadena, California. The area was completely destroyed in the fire that swept southern California. Reports are that he lost everything.

The discoverer's surname is Wathen, not Walthen.
