This rose has turned out to be one of my best and favorties. I am surprised it does so well in our zone 8b Texas humid climate. I will add more of this rose to my gardens. The blooms stay open and beautiful for such a long time. They do not shatter out easily even on windy days. The foliage is always very healthy and very pretty. The color blends are so soft.

I am looking for information regarding this rose. How disease resistant it might be. I live in a hot and humid climate in Texas and blackspot can really be a problem.

I live in Central Florida (very hot and humid) and I have two of the carefree sunshine roses. They live up to their name, I have never sprayed them for ANYTHING, and they have never had any blackspot. They are second only to my Knock Out roses (related) only because of the color (I'm partial to pinks!) An absolutely fabulous rose!

Thanks for your reply regarding the Carefree Sunshine rose. You probably have very humid weather too there in Florida so if this rose will perform well for you it should for me. I plan to get one! Thanks again!

Dear Dancey,
Well I am more knowledgeable about computer use now, thanks to the folks at HelpMeFind; so I am going to try to answer this Q and C Forum to you, regarding your original inquiry about the rose Carefree Sunshine. (You may remember I have tried to do this 3 times in the past!)
This remarkable rose is the creation of the same hybridizer as the rose Knock Out which may be why they are thought to be related; they could be from the same genetics but I only surmise this because Carefree Sunshine has so many similar characteristics to Knock Out right down to the petal count. But the breeder, William Radler indicates the parentage of Carefree Sunshine to be seedling x seedling. What intrigues me more is the parentage of Knock Out which includes a Buck rose: Carefree Beauty!
Now that little tidbit opens a world of possibilities because the continuation of the Mid-West hardy rose breeding programs started by Griffith Buck is excellent news for you and others in your region! I suggest you check out the information on HMF for the hybridizers Mr. Radler and Mr. Buck, and consider numerous rose choices from these two as hardy roses for your area.
Sincerely, Terre

Terry that is wonderful news! I am keeping those two names (Radler & Buck) in my Rose journal. I've always heard such good things about the Buck roses. It would be wonderful if his roses were perfected for our area. We have such a problem with black spot here in our area. I am delighted with my Knock Out roses. I will take a look at the hybridizers here on HMF and make notes. Thanks!

I am interested in learning more about the rose "Carefree Sunshine". I live in zone 8b in Texas. It's very hot and humid here so I need roses that can stand up to the weather conditions. I have found that Knock Out roses do wonderfully well here for me. Let me know about your experiences with Carefree Sunshine. TIA

Dear Dancey, I've written 2 times and I don't know why it's not appearing as a reply. I did all replies to your other posted question and just thought I'd see if it works on this, your earlier post. Maybe HMF is verifying the info I provided as I listed lineage, related roses, breeders, suppliers and retailers... it was 2-3 pages of info. Hope it shows up soon Terre

I am very interested in any information I can get regarding the yellow rose Carefree Sunshine. I have been told it's parentage is Knock Out rose. I have several Knock Out roses and I love them. They are the most carefree roses I've ever had here in our zone 8b humid hot weather. If the Carefree Sunshine is an offspring from Knock Out and as disease resistant I would love to have some. Does anyone out there have information about this beautiful yellow rose?

Dancey,
In the future, it would be better to post questions like this to the Q&C tab for the specific rose.

Actually, I dont think I would have found Dancey's question there unless I had some reason to look up Carefree Sunshine which I don't. This seems to be a good place for specific rose questions to start out and the readers can peruse them until one catches their eye.

When one posts a question or comment to a plant's Q&C tab it shows up both on the plant's Q&C tab and in the Q&A Forum. That way, one only has to check the RECENT POSTS tab in the Q&A Forum to find ANY recent post no matter where it originated. You can even browse the HMF Rose Listings category in the Q&A Forum to see just the plant Q&C tab postings.
Hope this helps.

I'm sorry Dancey, I may have sent my original reply wheeling off into cyberspace or something! I'm so much more comfortable IN terra firma, afterall. I will try to locate my notes and rewrite the information for you later this afternoon. Also, while I have you 'on-the-line', where are you, so I know what kind of conditions you're dealing with when gardening? Terre Ashmore
