Last year I planted a McCartney Rose and it did very well. This year it has taken off beyond my wildest expectations. The other day I noticed some strange growth on a couple of the canes. Along with the central flower bud and two or three secondary flower buds beside it, at the top of the stem, I noticed single stems with one flower bud growing out of each of the first 2 bud eyes further down the cane, between the cane and leaf sets. Like the suckers on a tomatoe plant. There are no leaves or secondary flower buds on these stems. Just the single flower. It's only happening on a couple canes. I've never seen this before and was wondering if this was normal or if it may be a mutation.
