I wonder if admin would consider a spelling variant that does not require typing the a-umlaut. For some of us this always requires a Google search and a rather unnatural finger-dance on the keyboard. Furthermore, once one has typed Auerstadt without the umlaut, type-ahead seems not to let you simply truncate the name to Auer and let the lovely Perl software do the heavy lifting - it just keeps typing the wrong thing.

BEST MATCHES does strip away the punctuation, but there is a lot of flexibility in the other searches and I like not having to type in the whole name of the rose, if it is a long one.
