Origin:
Bred by Henry Bennett (United Kingdom, 1886).
Introduced in United States by Chas. F. Evans in 1886 as 'The Puritan'.
Introduced in Australia by C. F. Newman and Sons - Adelaide in 1894 as 'The Puritan'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea.  
Bloom:
Cream, ages to white .  Strong, magnolia fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Upright.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b and warmer.  Spring Pruning: Remove old canes and dead or diseased wood and cut back canes that cross. In warmer climates, cut back the remaining canes by about one-third. In colder areas, you'll probably find you'll have to prune a little more than that.
