You reference Hortico selling Knight's Mothers Day however their site shows a nice rose but one that is very red. Not at all the lovely hugh white blobs that used to cover my mothers garden bench.

Yes. Their site is showing the red poly 'Mothersday (Grootendorst 1949) I don't know how it got linked to the white 'Mothers Day' (HT, Knight 1937). Perhaps Admin does?

I don't know, but I'm going to venture a guess on this one. Hortico is famous for saying they have one rose and then delivering a different rose with a similar name. One year their website advertised the Florist rose Texas (a yellow hybrid tea), which I ordered because I thought it would be fun to have both roses named Texas (the mini, which I already had) and the hybrid tea, which they supposedly were selling. NOT! What they actually sent me was another plant of the mini -- which was not what was on their website.
This year, the same problem. Their website says they have the rose "The Twins" which is supposedly an orange shrub. However, what they sent is probably "Twins" by Lens, a polyantha. (I haven't seen a bloom yet on this new plant, but the small leaves are telling me it's a polyantha).
I have heard others discussing the same type of issue with them. So, if I had to guess, that's probably how "Mothers Day" became Mothersday. The same bad website copy checking, for which this company is infamous.

Pat I loved your compilations etc. George Robert Knight is / was a distant cousin. I was going to work on a full list of their roses. Any interest?

Definitely. A member of the family, however distant is valuable for their knowledge and every scrap of information helps. HelpMeFind list 15 Knight roses altogether. 7 bred and 8 sports discovered. Are there more? (Admin – I am not sure why the bred and discovered roses are not coming up on the one page?) Anonymous – Do you have any information on ‘Little Princess’? - see the member comments for that page.
