The General rose photo
Rose photo courtesy of billy teabag
From 1926 series of Wills's cigarette cards (No 13) THE GENERAL. (Hybrid Tea.) A really good red rose, suitable alike for exhibition or for garden decoration. The flowers are large, well formed, with perfect centres, and a strong damask perfume. They are produced freely and continuously throughout the summer. The foliage is dark green and leathery. Its habit of growth is free, and should be pruned to within four "eyes." Introduced in 1920.
