Bred by Rudolf Geschwind (1829-1910) (Austria-Hungary (former), 1887).

Hybrid Multiflora.  
Bloom:
Dark red, violet shading.  Ages to grey-blue.  Moderate fragrance.  Large, very double, cluster-flowered bloom form.  
Habit:
Climbing.  

Height: 8'2" to 9'10" (250 to 300cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 4b through 9b.  Hardy.  vigorous.  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
'Gilda' in commerce is 'Geschwind's Orden'. According to Erich Unmuth, it is questionable whether 'Gilda' in gardens and in commerce is the original Geschwind rose - see References.
