From Gardening Illustrated, vol. 24, 1902, p. 501, where I am happy to report we learn its parentage at last: "This, which was awarded the Gold Medal of the National Rose Society at the Temple Show in 1901, is said to be a seedling from ‘Papa Gontier’ crossed with ‘Isabella Sprunt’. It somewhat resembles the former in smoothness of petal, and there is a yellow shade at the base of the deep coloured petals that it probably takes from the other parent."

2022 May Atlanta Georgia. She's a beast. To me the scent is nothing to write home about. However if you like tea, it might be something. She's gorgeous when in full bloom. Also she looks pretty in winter here because she keeps her leaves generally.

Taken April 2023 in Florida Zone 10b. Mrs BR Cant planted with queen Anne's lace (Ammi majus) for a cottage garden I designed for the Edison Ford Winter Estates in Fort Myers FL. These two were serving Cottage Garden Realness hunty lemme tell you. EVERYONE loved this combination.
