I have this rose variety (Grootendorst, pink) growing in my garden, and it looks very beautiful. The only problem is that I would love to cut it and bring the blooms inside...however, I am unable to do this because every time a bloom opens up, it is crawling with bees (its almost as if they "nest" inside the blooms). Can anyone tell me why they do this and how I can prevent this from happening (without harming my flowers)? Thanks!!

It is my experience that bees often sleep in flowers and leave when the sun warms things up. Are you only trying to cut the flowers early in the morning? You might try later in the day. You could also cut the flowers and leave them outside in a cup of water and wait for the bees to leave.

This question was asked years ago, but I thought I'd answer anyway, just in case. When i used to keep bees, we would use smoke to make the bees leave, because they avoid it. It doesn't make them mad, though, they just tend to leave. I would suggest gathering your cut flowers when the air is still, and taking a few sticks of incense outside with you. Tap the branches of the flowers you intend to cut, and then wave the incense near them, and any bees inside will probably leave. finally once you cut the flowers, shake them a bit. Enjoy your Grootendorst! I know I would not let some bees stop me if I only had a beautiful pink Grootendorst.
