Has anyone grown both Shailer's and R. Pendulina to compare? I realize being a descendant of x rose does not guarantee a high degree of similarities, but surely it should be similar enough as a self of a *species* rose? I'm interested in Pendulina genes and I would like to have more assurance that this has some before I get it. Is it near thornless too? Has it ever made a pear shaped hip like R. Pendulina's for anyone?
Ahh, memories ... this is one of the first roses I "rustled" in the area around Frederick, Maryland with my friend and former Sister-in-law Suzy. The others were Banshee and Dr. Van Fleet. I think I gave SP away because it suckered so much. Now I wish I still had a single little sucker. Don't let the fact that it's a once-bloomer fool you. It bloomed for a month or more for me. Wonderful Damask fragrance, if I remember correctly. If I can ever find it again, I'll try growing it in a large pot.
