Treloar Roses no longer offer this cultivar for sale. My impression is that the rose is of Rosa gigantea ancestry.

Does anybody have Treloar’s catalogue which lists ‘Rod Beechey’.
I have 2001, 2014 and 2015 but they do not mention ‘Rod Beechey’.

New release 2011.
Treloar Catalogue 2011, P46, Photo P11. Also in 2012, p46 and 2013, p48 catalogues.
I think you can ignore the spelling error on the rose image.

Johno - That was helpful. Thank you. I have moved the bloom photo to the Rod Beechey file, and added the reference.
Spotto - although Lilia did some breeding with R. macrantha, she also bred with R. gigantea.
From the Heritage Rose Journal 28-2-16 in 2006 she wrote:
“ .....One of the lines I am pursuing is Rosa gigantea and its seedlings, especially Alister Clark's gigantea seedlings. Sometimes pollination takes place at a different time of the year to accommodate such roses as ‘ Jessie Clark’ which flowers mainly in July-August. After several generations, I have some which may well prove to be desirable roses. A few, like Alister’s flower early which is a great bonus.”

Thank you, Patricia for your reply. In my opinion, 'Rod Beechey' would sit well in a collection of Alister Clark's roses. There is every possibility that it is actually related to them. Thank you for your research into Lilia Wetherly 's breeding lines. I wish that this rose were available here in Tasmania.

A pleasure Spotto. Do either you, or Simon Voorwinde, or anybody else…..know what happened to Lilia’s breeding records.
Lilia and I corresponded a little years ago and I will re-read her letters today to see what I can find. I seem to remember her daughter publishing a brief article after her mother’s death.

Spotto, re your initial comment.
I have been unable to find any information on the parentage. Neither can Girija Viraraghavan. The 2006 possible telephone (?landline) number for Lilia’s son in Perth seems disconnected. And an email to Treloar Roses remains unanswered.
Sorry I couldn’t help further.
