*** Growing near Houston, TX: sub tropical zone 9a. Mild winters, hot, extremely humid summers that last half the year. *** Purchased from Hortico 2014 4/2016- still small with very fragrant wine colored flowers. 11/5/2016- Died back quite a bit due to drought conditions. May not be long for this world. 2/28/2017- Still living, but it's a one caned wonder. I've just put in irrigation, so hopefully that will help. 3/31/2019- still hasn't done well. I might have to get rid of it. :( 4/7/2021- died
My plant is beginning to bloom, and finally, showing some black spot from the terribly wet spring we have had. I've gotten several pictures of the open bloom, but am not happy--a VERY VERY difficult color to capture accurately! I also can't detect any fragrance, which I am disappointed in, as I think he is supposed to be quite fragrant. Well, it is only one bud open so far, hopefully I will have more luck as the others bloom--it is covered in buds!
